Mission Statement
Focusing on issues of conservation and sustainability, the Foundation will expose people to photography, the various elements of the photographic process, and encourage people to develop individual improvement strategies. By becoming familiar with these concepts, it allows the individual to explore the various paths of photography as a vocation, avocation, or simply a hobby. Photography ultimately serves as an avenue of expression and can be used to document things as they are, serve as a call to action, or to simply allow one to express and explore their own creativity. As one increases their knowledge of photography, they become more proficient and effective in communicating through pictures. Expression through photography can be profound, and these expressions can have a significant and lasting impact.
Through photography and educational programs, Chicago Photo Safaris Foundation will help raise awareness and appreciation of nature, and the impact of man on the total environmental system. This increased appreciation will aid in the conservation and restoration of our natural ecosystems for the benefit of humanity and the earth’s biodiversity.
Chicago Photo Safaris carries out its mission through a combination of education and development programs, supported by fundraising efforts designed to further involve photographers in one of their favorite pastimes. The multitude of activities all ultimately aim to expand the constituency that appreciates nature, to enhance critical thinking to local, state and national levels, and to promote conservation of valuable resources.
